A backup is complete only after a successful restore. Keep the database, backups, logs, and credentials under the restaurant owner’s control.
Requirements
- Access to Settings → Database Tools.
- Separate owner-controlled storage for the backup.
- A test installation or replacement device for a restore rehearsal.
Steps
- Create a manual backup after representative test orders and before updates, hardware changes, or distribution-channel changes.
- Copy the backup to separate owner-controlled storage.
- Restore it on a test installation using FloCafe’s Database Tools where possible.
- Verify menus, orders, configuration, users, and reports.
- Record who owns the process, where the backup is kept, and how long restoration takes.
Verify success
The restored installation contains the expected data and the restaurant can explain how to recover without deleting the original database.
Warnings
Do not publish databases, credentials, tokens, customer information, or unredacted receipts. If FloCafe cannot start, preserve the original database and logs before attempting recovery.
